• Returning from furlough tip #8 - don't forget your managers and HR teams are employees too. They will be working crazy hours, they're probably feeling stressed and are trying to get things sorted for others. They're employees too and will have the same worries about returning as everybody else - don't neglect them!

  • Returning from furlough tip #7 - stop ticking boxes. When it comes to risk assessments and redundancy consultations many organisations just treat them as box-ticking exercises. Involve the right people, talk and (most importantly) listen to the people who do the jobs. The organisation and the employees will achieve a much better result.

  • Returning employees from furlough tip #6 deals with those who refuse to return - the different reasons why they may refuse and how to deal with it. In my view formal action such as disciplinary should not be avoided but should also be the last resort - fair and strong leadership should avoid the need for such action. Apologies, given the subject this is a bit longer than the other 2 minute tips!
