Easter weekend is fast approaching and those of us who love chocolate will be looking forward to feasting on those eggs.
Of course we all know the real reason for the holiday - it's the holiest time in the Christian calendar - but how well do we know our teams and colleagues? Do we know their religions, cultures and beliefs? What's most important to them? We didn't nationally celebrate the Tamil New Year for Hindus on 14th April, and we won't for Jewish Passover from 19th April, or Ramadan for Muslims from 6th May - but as leaders it's important that we understand our people and what's important to them.
It's not about being an expert on religion, it's just knowing your people - talk to them, ask them what's important to them - and most importantly, be interested - you may learn something! Not sure how to start the conversation? Ask them what their favourite chocolate egg is - most people like chocolate and whilst there will always be different opinions chocolate is much more worthy of a dispute than religion in my view.
For the record, Cadbury's is the best chocolate - straight from the fridge - no debate.
WE'D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU!
