Redundancy consultation tip #4 - train your employee reps and your managers. Not only will this mean everybody understands the process and their roles, but critically it also forms a team and you can get to know each other and talk about some of the potentially difficult scenarios you may be facing as you work together to mitigate redundancies and ensure the best outcomes for employees and the business. Don't just think about collective consultations - think about individual consultations too and the managers who will be having the discussions with employees. Managers are also employees and may well be affected too - don't forget them and ensure they receive effective consultation and all the help you'll be giving to others. Managers and employee reps have difficult jobs - help them upfront by investing time with them. Preparation is key!
